The Art of Listening

An Immersion to Explore
& Expand Your Creativity

~~~
Can you relate to any of these questions?…
§ Are you feeling blocked in your creative process?
§ Have you been desiring to express something from your deepest self but have been feeling stuck or not knowing how to do that?
§ Would you like to shift out of the fear, doubt, and judgment that hinders your artistic process and move into aliveness, joy, & beauty in your creative life?
§ Have you been moving through challenges in your life and are you wishing to reconnect with life through some form of expression such as writing, painting, music?
§ Have you had formal training in music or another art form that has caused a tendency toward perfectionism, and has this caused your “inner critic” to be loud, making it difficult for you to connect with the joy of your innate creativity?
§ Are you actively engaged in your art or music but feel that you could use some guidance in navigating the insecurity and emotional turbulence and ups & downs that arise when we are dedicated to our art?
§ Would you like to explore the connection between music, art, meditation, and the healing power of art and music?
§ Would you like to infuse your music or art with beauty, harmony, peace, or messages of social justice, and work closely with someone as a sounding board as you refine your artistic offering?
§ At the beginning of your meetings Sujatha will guide you through meditations and practices that facilitate the art of listening and the recognition of the source of your innate creativity.
§ During your sessions we will explore a variety of topics and you will have the opportunity to express your thoughts, feelings, and questions about the creative process in a safe and supportive setting.
Working together, we can choose from a variety of topics
to focus on, depending on what
resonates for you at this moment in your journey …
Here are some topics we could
explore …
§ Releasing identification from your attachment to labels and titles... (e.g. “I am a pianist, I am a sculptor”) so that you may open to an expanded view of what it means to be an artist.
§ Opening to and developing trust in the unknown, in the mystery of life.
§ Fostering diligence that arises from love and devotion toward your craft.
§ Noticing the difference between refining your craft from a place of devotion versus forcing discipline from a false sense of perfectionism or to appease others.
§ Cultivating playfulness.
§ Choosing an art form beyond your primary art/instrument/craft, and exploring how this can widen your breadth of expression.
§ Redefining “success” in terms of inner joy and aliveness rather than in terms of a conventional idea of success based on external recognition and awards.
§ Contemplating ways of moving through experiences of adoration & rejection, and how you can use these experiences to help you to grow as an artist and to connect with the source of your innate creativity beyond ego.
§ Finding a balance between creating music or art and being financially responsible and grounded in the world.
§ Creating a list of artistic/musical intentions for the future that is infused with joy, enthusiasm, & devotion to your art.
a little about me…
Sujatha Maheshwari is an artist, musician, & writer who began to be enthralled with music at the young age of 6. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from a prestigious music conservatory, which offered her an extensive education & wonderful training. However, the rigor of the training caused her to disconnect from the source of her creativity due to being in an environment permeated with false ideas of perfectionism. Thus she turned away from music, studied nursing and worked as an RN for many years. Over the next several years she untangled from creative blocks and erroneous notions of what it means to be an artist. As she immersed herself in deep listening, the joy of creativity began to return to life. She is now expressing beauty in the world through her music, teaching, and writing. You can read her bio on the about page. Sujatha lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Creativity Immersion is founded on the principle that when we create from our true nature or source, free from the dense and obscuring filter of the ego… beauty, joy & harmony are expressed through our creativity, which allows our art to flourish and serve a greater purpose in the world.
