As musicians we desire to connect with the innate source of creativity and to express beauty and uniqueness in the world.
Why do we play or sing music? Because of the simple reason that we love it and desire to share music & art.
However, many of us have struggled with our music due to false ideas of perfectionism, the weight of pressure from the external world, and the heaviness of self-criticism. All of which lead to creative blocks and a depletion of joy in our artistic life, limiting our ability to share creativity in the world.
Through contemplating the illusion of perfection, understanding the root cause of unworthiness, emphasizing the need to slow down and rest, surrendering to the silence, and trusting a greater intelligence beyond the mind… this mentorship will assist you in becoming a clear channel of creative expression.
And throughout the mentorship we will cultivate listening. To be an artist is to listen. Through listening we connect deeply with life, which allows life to flow freely through us. And when we are connected with the source of life we cannot help but express beauty and uniqueness in the world – joyfully, naturally, & effortlessly.
About the Mentorship Program…
§ Prior to the mentorship, you will have a complimentary 15 minute phone call with me so you can find out if this mentorship is a good fit for you.
§ The mentorship consists of 8 one-on-one online Zoom sessions with me that are each 50 minutes in length and scheduled between 8am-12pm Pacific time, Monday through Friday. The 8 sessions occur within a time frame of 8-10 weeks and the cost of the program is $400 (in US dollars).
§ At the beginning of our meetings I will guide you through meditations that facilitate the art of listening & paying attention. Through attentive listening you will connect with the silence of your being, which underlies and permeates all of life.
§ During the sessions you will have the opportunity to express your thoughts, feelings, and questions about the creative process and to share your ideas in a safe and supportive setting.
§ Week 1 - We will practice releasing identification from attachment to the ideas “I am a musician” and “I am an artist” so that we may explore what is underneath those labels.
§ Week 2 - We will explore the idea of devotion and how fostering our devotion to music can enhance artistry.
§ Week 3 - We will discuss the difference between diligently working on our craft from a place of devotion versus striving for a false idea of perfectionism.
§ Week 4 - We will explore the benefit of choosing an art form beyond our primary instrument/voice, and how this can widen our breadth of expression (e.g. a secondary instrument, writing, painting, jewelry making, photography, etc.)
§ Week 5 - We will dialogue about what it means to be a “successful artist/musician” beyond conventional ideas of success.
§ Week 6 - We will contemplate ways of moving through experiences of adoration & rejection, and how we can use these experiences to help us to grow as artists and to connect with our innate creativity beyond ego.
§ Week 7 - We will discuss finding a balance between creating music and being financially responsible and grounded in the world.
§ Week 8 - We will review a list of musical intentions that you have created & discuss any topic that feels resonant to you as you are completing the mentorship.

a little about me…
Sujatha is an artist, musician, & writer who began to be enthralled with music at the young age of 6. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from a top tier music conservatory, which offered her an extensive education & wonderful training. However, the rigor of the training caused her to disconnect from the source of her creativity due to being in an environment permeated with false ideas of perfectionism. Thus she turned away from music, studied nursing and worked as an RN for many years. Over the next several years she untangled from creative blocks and erroneous notions of what it means to be an artist. As she immersed herself in deep listening, the joy of creativity began to return to life. She is now expressing beauty in the world through music, teaching, and writing. You can read her bio on the about page. Sujatha lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
